A Message From Shafia Monroe, BWF 1984 Grantee Partner & today's "Queen Mother of a Midwifery Movement"

We spoke with Shafia Monroe on the heels of her keynote presentation at our 2024 Reproductive Justice Symposium. After decades of training thousands of doulas and midwives and contributing greatly to an increase in the number of Black midwives across the country, today, Shafia is known as the "Queen Mother of a Midwifery Movement." Hear about how she got her start with support from BWF back in1984.
