Boston Women's Fund is proud to announce the forthcoming release of our research report, Carrying the Weight, Leading the Change: How Women of Color Grassroots Leaders Navigate Inequities While Driving Solutions. We invite you to join us on March 27 for a virtual briefing unpacking the findings.

Completed in collaboration with the Center for Women in Politics and Public Policy at UMass Boston (CWPPP), this first-of-its-kind report centers women and gender-expansive grassroots leaders of color in Greater Boston. While traditional research methods often miss small nonprofits at the grassroots level, we zoomed in. Carrying the Weight, Leading the Change is able offer something new — a data-driven picture of how women and gender-expansive leaders of color are faring within Greater Boston’s grassroots landscape, as it actually is. The research unites numerical data with grassroots leaders’ lived experiences as it unpacks the unique inequities these leaders face, the toll those inequities take on their well-being, and how philanthropy can show up differently to better support community-led change.

RSVP today for access to Boston Women's Fund's free, live, virtual presentation of findings from our report, Carrying the Weight, Leading the Change: How Women of Color Grassroots Leaders Navigate Inequities While Driving Solutions.

Jessica Martin, Lead Quantitative Researcher, and Natanja Craig Oquendo, BWF CEO, will break down the data, explain its impact on Greater Boston’s women and gender-expansive grassroots leaders of color, and uncover the hidden ties between systemic inequities, funding, and leadership well-being. We’ll discuss where systems are falling short, reveal what solutions grassroots leaders want to see, and learn how we can all better support community leaders in this critical moment. Q&A to follow!
